Concession Stand Student and Adult Participation Guidelines
Responsibility of Discipline
- Each Fine Arts discipline is assigned one to two months per year to be responsible for the concession stand
- When the discipline is designated a month, their responsibility is to staff each shift with a parent volunteer and note the parents name on the master calendar
- The students in that discipline are given first priority to sign up for shifts.
Student Sign-Up Procedures
- The discipline President or designated parent will post the concession stand calendar in the classroom about a month before the shifts start.
- Students will initially be permitted to sign up for only two to three shifts in the month. Up to three students sign up to work each day.
- After a certain amount of time has passed (time determined by the President) and all students in that discipline have been given a chance to sign up for 2-3 shifts, students may sign up for additional spots that are still open.
- Students receive $10 in their FFA student account each time they work.
- Parent volunteers receive $5 for each shift that they work. The credit will be placed in their students account.
- One week prior to the start of that month, the calendar will be posted on the concession stand door. If there are remaining shifts open, any Fine Arts student may sign up.
- If a student has a conflict and cannot work their shift, they should cross their name off of the calendar prior to that shift. This allows another student to sign up and work.
- If a student does not show up for their shift, $10 will be deducted from their student account.
Student Account Withdrawal Guidelines
- Students and parents receive a credit in their student account for each shift they work. This is not cash and students may not withdraw cash from their account.
- Students may use their credits to pay for activity fees, trip fees and uniform fees.
- Students who wish to use their student credits must complete and sign the Student Account Funds Request form. This form should be given to the discipline President.
- Student Account information should be posted on a monthly basis in the classroom.
FFA Concession Stand Adult Worker Instructions
Thank you for helping in the FFA concession stand. This information is designed to give you an idea of what to expect when you show up for work. After you arrive at the concession stand, please follow instructions on the Concession Stand Daily Summary sheet.
Concession Stand Hours: 3:40 to 4:40
The Concession Stand opens after the bell rings at 3:40. Students cannot purchase snacks before the final bell, but bus drivers can.
Opening:
- Please arrive at the school no later than 3:15.
- Sign in and pick up the keys to the Concession Stand from the main office. Go to the concession stand and open the black window/door that leads to outside.
- Remove the money box from the locked far left cabinet over the sink in the Concession Stand. In it you will find an envelope with the money for the pizza delivery. Pizza will be delivered sometime between 3:15 and 3:30 (please do not be late: you must be there to pay for it).
- Open the rest of the cabinets and pull out the boxes of food and place them on the tables, out of reach of the customers. Put a price list in view of the customers.
- After the bell rings, you should have 2-3 students come to assist you in selling the snacks. It helps to assign them to "stations", such as drinks, pizza, chips/candy, etc. Most students are experienced at working and will know what to do.
- Only adults should be handling the money.
Closing:
- Restock the candy and chips displays and replenish the drink coolers for the next day.
- Make sure to fully complete the"Concession Stand Daily Summary" sheet and Cash Report/Deposit which can be found on the counter or in the drawers.
- Replenish the pizza money envelope and put it back under the cash tray for the next day.
- Remove the day's revenues from the cash box, leaving only the bills/change listed on the sticker on the cash tray.
- Take all empty boxes and trash from inside the concession area to the dumpster.
- Put all trays back and lock the cupboards and drink cooler.
- Put the completed form, a completed deposit slip, and the day’s revenues in one of the brown envelopes. Take the brown envelope and the keys and return them to the front office.
Please make sure that all cabinets are locked before you leave. Also, please be very careful not to lock the keys in the money box or leave them in the Concession Stand. Return them to the office with the money envelope and forms.
